Capitol Chilled Foods expansion a welcome boost for Canberra

Capitol Chilled Foods has announced a return to local flavoured milk production with a new range of products set to roll out from its Fyshwick headquarters this week.

The new flavours range, which includes Canberra Milk Choc and Canberra Milk Choc-Malt Honey variants, marks a return to local production, with the last locally produced flavoured milk ceasing production in 1996.

Capitol Chilled Foods Managing Director Garry Sykes was looking forward to injecting some local competition. “We’ve been wanting to re-establish our own range of flavoured milk for some time and I’m pleased to say that this week Canberrans will get their first opportunity to sample their new locally produced milk” he said. “I’m particularly pleased that this new range is produced in Canberra, supports local jobs and offers a flow on benefit to the local economy”.

As part of the expansion, the dairy manufacturer has invested significantly in equipment and product development. “We have installed state of the art equipment to ensure that we are producing a top quality flavoured milk that’s worthy of carrying the name of the city we all love” he said.

The new range has been sparked by an increase in demand for flavoured milk. Canberra Milk Marketing Manager Kylie McCaffery is confident that Canberrans would continue to embrace flavoured milk as an alternative to sugary drinks. “They’re 98% fat free, packed with essential daily nutrients, made right here in Canberra and feature the distinctive packaging that Canberrans instantly equate with the fresh creamy taste they know and love”.

The two new flavours are available in supermarkets, service stations, cafes and takeaways throughout Canberra in 375ml, 600ml and 2 litre sizes.

Canberra Milk is also giving Canberrans the opportunity to sample their two new flavours at upcoming events including the Australia Day Brekkie in Commonwealth Park, Tropfest and the Canberra Show, with full details of their promotional activity on the Canberra Milk Facebook page.
